Sounds like the stylist didn't know what she was doing... I do a lot that kind of colours and I would suggest you go to Sally's and get the hot pink you want and if it's a regular colour, use very low volume developer (5% or 10%) or if it has a high lift in it use 30% volume developer. And read the instructions well!!!

You really don't need to leave any colour on for 2 hrs, that's just wrong! 30-45 min is enough, just keep checking on the colour.

Pink, just like any red, has a tendency to fade fast, even after just couple of washes, so you might want get more of that colour, to touch up the colour every 2 weeks or so. Hope this helps!

How to fix it depends on how it was done and what products were used. My daughter has natural blonde hair and I put Manic Panic Vampire Red in, and it looked Hot Pink. The color on the jar or box isn't always what you are going to get. How long was the bleach left on? And was it bleached to a white blonde? The starting color is going to affect the end color. You may want to leave this one for a professional. If you try to do too much too soon, you will end up frying your friend's hair.

It's possible that the pink dye was left in for too long.. Most chemical dyes take 25-50 minutes to process.. and lose their effectivness after one hour.

It sounds like your friend needs to take another stab at this.. the pink obviously didn't turn out how she wanted it to.

Your best bet is to always, always, always go to a professional. I understand that some of us are seriously low on funds, and can't afford a $70 dye job. (Broke college kid here.) Maybe your friend is just a DIY-er. But, next time she wants to attempt this, pass on the following words of advice:

- First off, wait a month or 2 before trying this again. Hair dye will not show up on newly processed hair.

- Bleach your hair beforehand. (I see she got this part right. ^_^) Make sure the bleach stays in her hair until it turns a pale yellow/white color. This will usually take 45 minutes to an hour and a half. (Bleach is different from most dyes, and will not lose its effectivness in an hour, as mentioned above.) If your friend has ethnic hair, the lightest color she can get from bleaching is a rusty orange.

- Choose a quality hair dye. Manic Panic brand has always worked great for me - you can find it at Sally Beauty Supply stores, and they have a great selection of 'weird' colors.

- Follow the instructions exactly.

- To prevent fading hair color, buy a shampoo specifically formulated for color treated hair. Stuff really works.

Hopes this helps you out, at least somewhat...

Different hair types take color different! Bleaching takes away the melanoma that gives hairs its color there is no way to replace it, colors and dyes doesn't replace it.......its just like dye's that are put in wool and cotton fibers even those fibers take dyes differently and fade over time.
